Saint Vasileios (Association of Parents & Friends of autistic individuals)

The Parents and Friends Association of Autistic Persons S. Evros "Saint Vasileios" was founded in December 2004. Inside this place is based the "Center Adults' Day with autistic disorders" in Dorikos of Alexandroupoli's municipality.

The day center is open to the public daily, Monday - Friday at fixed hours, from 09:00 to 17:00 and has the opportunity to serve on a daily basis, about 15 to 25 beneficiaries.

Our goal:

Our main objective is the diagnosis, early intervention and treatment of all autism spectrum while designing individualized psychosocial support, so that the person will not be out of the community and not be removed from the natural environment (family, education, employment).

Our ambition:

The pursuit of our center is also to prevent the social isolation and of the people, the therapeutic intervention for modifying undesirable behaviors and improve those skills that enable social inclusion.

The day center:

The day center is a place where people come into contact with other people and participate in activities in a safe environment.

The team:

The aim of our scientific team, which consists of:

• Speech therapist
• Occupational therapist
• Educator
• Gymnast
• Musician
• Nurse
• Carer

is to fully evaluate the possibilities, weaknesses and needs of the individual, in order to put proposals on the way the treatment will be done, based on the maximum understanding of the medical, psychological, functional and psychological needs. At the same time, is allowed the counseling to the families of beneficiaries.

Our staff:

The center, funded by the EU (NSRF 2007-2013), also employs management and support staff and the services they provide are completely free.
